After over 25 years in existence, the barbershop known as Truefitt & Hill Chicago changed its name to Merchant & Rhoades in April of 2013. The Merchant family, who owns the business, decided it was past time to memorialize the store’s late founder, Kirk Merchant, by placing his name above the door.
The new name is a combination of Kirk’s family name “Merchant” and his wife Patrice’s maiden name “Rhoades.” The two names together represent what has always been a true family enterprise. Many members of the Merchant family are still actively involved in the business, including Kirk, the barbershop’s eldest son (and second-generation barber).
